Books for May

This months books are about marketing, psychology and thinking deeper into why we buy, as well as using technology to market what you do.

Buyology: How Everything We Believe About Why We Buy is Wrong
By Martin Lindstorm

I love this book because it gets into the physiology of why we buy.  To often we get fixated in our own conception of what we think makes our products attractive,  This book gets down to the fundamental desires and psychology of why we buy, with chapter titles like ‘A rush of blood to the head’,  ‘ I’ll have what she’s having’ and ‘A sense of wonder’.   This is an easy read and will definitely start you thinking on a track that will improve the way you market your business.

The New Rules of Marketing & PR: How to Use Social Media, Online Video, Mobile Applications, Blogs, News Releases, and Viral Marketing to Reach Buyers … & PR: How to Use Social Media, Blogs,)
By David Merman Scott

I brought this book when it was in it’s first edition, it is now in it’s third, with a fourth out in July.    It was the first  book to really coalesce for me the way I could use social media, blogs and video to boost my business.     With a strong emphasis on building connections and community with your audience and market.   Using real world examples, from well known companies, this is not just a how to manual.  If you are not convinced social media and blogs have a place in your business, you will be after reading this book.
