I won’t cover all of the installation steps, as most web hosts now offer a one click install, but I will give you some pointers to stop you making the most common mistakes.  The majority of the guide is about configuring WordPress, installing themes and choosing plugins safely.   I include my list of recommended plugins at the end.

Top Tip: Look out for the Leonie Jane cartoons. These are inserted next to Top Tips. I highlight little features of WordPress that are extra useful or often missed.
